Congratulations on your admission to the University of Southern California beginning the Spring Semester of 2021! Despite the COVID-19 situation, it is USC’s and AAU’s intention to administer The USC Fall Semester in Prague program in Fall 2020. Your inquires and applications will be processed swiftly and efficiently and we are excited to welcome you to the Prague program.

Visa Application Processes Resumed

In light of COVID-19 related measures being progressively lifted by the Czech Government, visa application processes were now resumed in many countries, including the United States.

If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, we therefore strongly recommend that you apply for a student visa at the Czech Embassy in one of the following cities:

  • Chicago

  • Los Angeles

  • New York

  • Washington

The student visa is not restricted to 90 days and therefore allows you to stay in the Czech Republic/Schengen Area for the entire duration of your program, also with more time on your hands for arrival, departure and travel.

In order to receive your visa on time, your visa appointment date should not be set later than July 18, 2020 at one of the embassies.

You may still use the alternative that you arrive without a visa for the compressed Fall 2020 semester and apply for a student visa (for a prolonged stay) once you arrive at the Czech Embassy either in Austria, Germany or Poland. Should you choose this option, please contact us for details.

If you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, please contact us to advise you whether the visa application processes have resumed also in the country of your citizenship.

Adjusted Fall Semester 2020 Dates

The AAU Fall 2020 Semester will still be compressed to 12 weeks. Classes will run from Monday, September 21st until Wednesday, December 16th, 2020. Therefore, students coming from countries whose citizens are exempt from the visa requirement for travel to the Czech Republic, specifically citizens of countries listed HERE, will not need to apply for a student visa to attend AAU for the Fall 2020 semester.

Virtual Classes for Fall Semester 2020

For those students who will not be able to enter the Czech Republic regardless of the compressed semester, the resumed visa processes, due to prevailing border or travel restrictions imposed by the respective governments, AAU will ensure that all classes you register for at AAU will be available in a virtual format during Fall Semester 2020.

Students enrolled in virtual classes during the Fall Semester 2020 will not be charged for the medical insurance fee and a discounted extra-curricular fee will apply. ($1,063 USD) The overall reduction of the entire program price will be reimbursed to students at the beginning of the Fall Semester 2020. Therefore, you need to make full payments first.

We recommend that you monitor AAU updates on government policies and entry regulations and inform your AAU academic advisor if you want to choose online courses for Fall Semester 2020 due to border restrictions. We further recommend researching flexible airfares and travel options which allow you to make your decision between face-to-face or online classes before the semester starts.
