Who’s new at AAU: Meet Adiya Ashirova, the latest addition to the Admissions Team
Originally from Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, Adiya graduated from AAU in 2021. Now, she works as a member of AAU’s Admissions Office and is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Humanities at AAU!
What do you do/what is your role? In my capacity as an admission counselor, I am mostly communicating with potential students/recruiters. This work happens prior to their submitting an application, so for example, I inform transferring students about the number of transferable credits, help students with the application, and review documents.
Why AAU? I graduated from AAU in June 2021, with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and Communication. I was working at the reception before and just could not leave this place! I love AAU’s working environment as well as its community. I feel very comfortable in this environment- it feels like my second home.
What do you enjoy most about your job? My main responsibility is to communicate with potential students and help them as much as I can in order to make the application process easier and less stressful which I find enjoyable.
Do you speak any other languages? Which ones? I speak 4 languages: Russian, Kazakh, and English, as well as a bit of French.
What do you enjoy most about living in Prague? I moved to Prague in 2016, which was a huge change in my life. I fell in love with Prague straight away. Every district of Prague is different. Personally, almost every corner is associated with my own memories, that is why I enjoy living here. I really enjoy spending time with my friends somewhere out in the bar, Motto, drinking our favorite drinks.
What are some of your interests? Definitely traveling somewhere to the sea. Also, I am a tennis player which, for me, is a good activity to release negative energy and stress!
