Calling all aspiring journalists and news enthusiasts! The International Journalism (JRN 323) course is back this spring, offering a hands-on newsroom experience.

In this course, students will write and report on breaking international stories in a simulated setting, work both individually and in teams, and develop real-world journalism skills. They’ll also have the chance to build a portfolio of quality clips for internships and jobs, meet professional journalists from organizations such as BBC News Russian, Radio Free Europe Afghan Service, SME, Vocea Basarabiei, and more, and dive deep into the fast-paced world of global news.

About the professor:

Senior Lecturer Andrew Giarelli is a journalist with decades of experience writing for leading U.S. and international media. He reports on the Ukraine war and Central-Eastern Europe for Czech and Slovak outlets and is the author of the forthcoming book, The Lands Between: A Central European Journey, set to be published in February. Giarelli’s diverse career also includes magazine publishing, editing, and translation.
