Applications for Fall 2024 Intake of Student Mentors & Ambassadors Now Open
Applications for the Fall 2024 intake of student mentors and ambassadors are now open and will run through May 24, 2024. There are open spaces for five mentors and five ambassadors, and the winners will each receive the Community Engagement Scholarship.

About the Community Engagement Scholarship
The Community Engagement Scholarship is designed to honor and support ten current AAU students per semester who actively participate in enriching campus life. This scholarship is a token of the university’s appreciation for those who take on service-based roles and contribute to creating a lively, welcoming, and student-centric environment at AAU.
Scholarship Benefits:
- A scholarship of 10,000 CZK per semester credited towards tuition
- AAU merchandise
- Valuable recruitment experience and an enhanced resume
- Increased chances of success in the Bring a Friend Program
Selected Mentors for Spring Semester 2024:
Kesed Haglund: Kesed is in her final year, pursuing a degree in international relations and diplomacy. Born in Prague, raised in Sofia, Bulgaria, and having completed high school in Florida, she brings a unique perspective to the role. Before joining AAU, Kesed spent a year studying in Costa Rica and Spain. In addition to mentoring, she serves as the Student Council vice-president. Kesed can be reached at kesed.haglund@aauni.edu .
Mila Garrett: Mila, a second-year international relations student, wears multiple hats as a student mentor, Student Council outreach agent, and Student Life intern. With a passion for reading, writing, hiking, and travel, Mila is always eager to try something new. Beyond practical assistance, she is dedicated to helping students find their niche in Prague. Clara Berens: Clara, a second-year journalism and communications student, spends her days fueled by caffeine and can often be found at Café des Taxis. Apart from studying and working, Clara enjoys rockwall climbing with the AAU climbing club and cherishes rare moments of free time, which she spends reading and being outdoors. Grace Hatch: Grace, a first-year student majoring in humanities, culture, and society with a concentration in sociology, psychology, and leadership, brings a unique perspective to her role as mentor. Originally from Denver, Colorado, and having lived in Wisconsin for five years, Grace has a passion for reading, watching movies, and art. She is currently residing in Zeitraum and encourages students to connect with her at grace.hatch@aauni.edu.
Maggie Puckett: Maggie, a second-year international relations major with a concentration in international law, originally hails from Ohio. Having fallen in love with Prague upon arrival, Maggie understands the challenges of adjusting to a new city. An avid reader and lover of parks in Prague, she is excited to be a mentor this semester. Selected Ambassadors for Spring 2024:
Veronika Zouharová: Veronika is a first year business administration major with a concentration in finance and economics. Being from Prauge, AAU was an obvious choice for her. She knew she wanted to be an ambassador the moment she helped her best friend with her application to AAU and saw how much it helped them. She decided that she wanted to do the same for other prospective students!
Niyota Burkes: Niyota is a a second-year humanities student from Maryland, USA. She currently serves as Student Council events manager and is a huge fan of the Rock Climbing Club. After helping out with events her first semester, she knew she wanted to be more involved with student life!
Keira Cavanaugh: Keira is a a second year humanities major and international relations minor from Houston, TX. She is the president of the Asian Student Association and has found that being at a diverse and international school has benefitted her studies greatly!
Ethan Fite: Ethan is in his final semester at AAU, soon to graduate with a degree in business administration, with an emphasis on strategic marketing and planning. Originally from the US, Ethan knew AAU was the right choice when he found a university that was affordable and in an incredible place. He has not regretted his decision. Ethan has played a huge role in the AAU community during his many semesters as an ambassador and will be missed!
Matthew Saks: Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Matt is a second year student studying business management. Outside of being a student ambassador, he participates in numerous activities, such as serving as the president of the AAU football team, training for half marathons, exploring Europe, and trying new restaurants in Prague.
