AAU Partners with Bluewater Group

Sustainability is one of the 5 pillars of AAU’s Strategic Plan for 2021-2026. This partnership is just one of many concerted efforts to make our school more environmentally friendly. On top of introducing beautiful, stainless steel water bottles to our merchandise assortment working with Bluewater Group will provide our students with opportunities to interact with the real business world in the form of internships, networking events and professional training. The AAU community will also benefit from guest lectures given by professionals at Bluewater who will share their expertise and educate on sustainable water management.

“I’m very excited about this new partnership with Bluewater as sustainability is not only an important global issue but is also at the heart of the university’s development both in educating our students and becoming more green ourselves. So much so that we have integrated it as part of our 5 year development plan. In our first steps towards greater sustainability, together with Bluewater, we now offer a line of stainless steel reusable bottles that provides the AAU Community an alternative to single use plastics.

But this is only the beginning, we are looking forward to working with a worldwide leader like Bluewater who will also advise AAU in making more sustainable choices both on our campus and as an institution. This partnership will further educate our students on global environmental issues, provide professional opportunities, and aid in AAU’s mission of more sustainable action. Our young people are currently being faced with growing, and alarming, environmental issues and it is up to us to show that we care about their future and the state in which they inherit our problems and our planet.”

This partnership was inspired by 2016 Business Administration Alumnus, Sendin Arnautovic who now works for Bluewater Group in Stockholm, Sweden. Sendin reached out to us as a part of a bigger effort to create a network of institutions and businesses that share the need for responsible water consumption and are looking to transform into more sustainable organizations.

The most immediate realization of this partnership is the AAU & Bluewater bottle which will be available for purchase in our AAU merchandise shop. Inspired by nature, designed in Sweden and made from sustainable materials, Bluewater bottles support AAU’s goal to reduce the use of single-use plastics. For every bottle purchased, 1 kg of plastic waste is picked up from the world’s beaches and the use of a reusable water bottle has the potential to save up to 167 wasted plastic bottles each year.
