AAU Awards: And the Winner is…
On Saturday, May 13, 2023, we celebrated our community at the 11th Annual AAU Awards Ceremony! Congratulations to all award winners and nominees, our new student council members – what a fantastic year we have had!

Teacher of the Year, 2022/23
This award is given to the professor from each school whose dedication to teaching and outstanding performance has increased the knowledge of students, motivated students to excel in their studies, and inspired students to greater commitment to their own personal development.

Best Course Award, 2022/23
This award is given to the professor whose course has made scholarship at Anglo-American extremely rewarding, interesting, and valuable. The course’s exemplary program has outstanding merit and creates great interest in the student body.
- Anthony Marais – Composition II
Outstanding Scholar Award, 2022/23 (Voted by Faculty)
This award, which is only voted upon by the faculty, is given to the student who has displayed outstanding academic scholarship and commitment while simultaneously achieving and maintaining an excellent grade point average. This individual has demonstrated the ability to go above and beyond their course expectations by engaging, participating, and demonstrating exceptional performance in their academic environment.

Staff Member of the Year, 2022/23 (Voted by Staff)
This award is given to the staff member who has performed extraordinarily in their position in order to make AAU a better place for students, faculty, and staff.

- Zuzana Vesela
Distinguished Artist Award, 2022/23
This award is given to the student who has displayed excellence, dedication and hard work in their artistic craft.
- Genevieve Flores
Club of the Year, 2022/23
This award is given to the officially registered club that has shown thorough dedication and commitment to their duties, their members, and the greater AAU community.
- Rock Climbing Club
Student Council Member of the Year, 2022/23
This new award recognizes the student council member who has gone above and beyond their duties in and outside their respective AAU role.
- Simone Stansbury
AAU Spirit Award, 2022/23
This award is given to the student who does not have an elected leadership role, yet has performed great deeds in service of the AAU community.
- Niyota Burkes
Distinguished Student Leadership Award, 2022/23
This award is given to the student who has displayed great leadership skills and qualities and demonstrated innovation and motivational leadership in their academic or community settings.
- Mathilde Kjeldbjerg
Global Explorer Award, 2022/23
This new award is granted to a spirited Study Abroad student who has demonstrated innovation and has performed great deeds in service of the AAU community.
- Nanako Yamamoto
Rising Star Award, 2022/23
This new award goes to a first-year student who has shown great initiative and leadership by getting heavily involved in AAU events and community life.
- Payton Metzger
Outstanding Athlete Award, 2022/23
This new award goes to an athletic student who is not only skilled in their sport but has shown great team spirit and motivated their peers to achieve their best.
