Through the AAU Buddy Program, current students help new students feel at home. This program aims to help make the transition to AAU and Prague smoother and more fun for the entire AAU community and we are looking for new AAU Mentors!

About the AAU Buddy Program:

At AAU, academic excellence is not the only thing we care about; we also want our students to enjoy the beauty and culture of Prague and the excitement that university life has to offer. That’s why we’ve set up the AAU Buddy Program, a group of experienced AAU students or „Mentors“ who have volunteered to assist new students in adapting to both Prague and university life so they can make the most out of their new life chapter. We know it can be tough transitioning into a new environment and figuring out your university routine, and our AAU mentors are here to help you do just that. They are our way of saying “Welcome to Prague, and welcome to AAU!”

Interested in becoming a Mentor? Responsibilities include:

  • Participation in the New Student Orientation
  • Communication with admitted applicants / new students
  • Accommodation & visa assistance
  • Organization of events for new students
  • Participation in various AAU events such as Open House, edu fairs, high school visits
  • Active participation in supporting AAU’s online presence (ranging from blogging to sharing posts, etc.)
  • And more

Although this is a voluntary position our mentors see it as time well-spent! Benefits include:

  • A welcome package including an AAU T-shirt, water bottle, and other AAU merchandise
  • Enrolment in Fingera (fingerprint access to AAU’s main campus building)
  • Free entrance to AAU events
  • A certified recommendation letter
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Resume building experience

Along with these benefits, you get the unique opportunity to be one of the first touch points with a culturally-diverse group of new AAU students and make a lasting impact on their life.

To ensure our incoming students are partnered with the best possible representatives of AAU we require our mentors to:

  • Be in good financial standing with AAU
  • Have a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher
  • Be able to commit at least 50 hours per semester
  • Have a friendly, charismatic attitude

We want you to become a part of the AAU team! If you are interested in becoming an AAU mentor and sharing your experiences and expertise with new, incoming students, please contact the Student Services Manager, Iveta Morávková.
