The lecture will focus on the factors that led to the pro-independence turn in Catalonia since 2011 and the internal tensions in Catalan society/territory between nationalist and non-nationalist groups that were intensified by this turn.

About the Guest Lecturer:

Mgr. Martin Lepic is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Social Geography, Charles University and a lecturer at the Department of Geography, University of West Bohemia. He focuses on the spatial distribution of support for sub-state nationalist movements in Catalonia and the Basque Country. He is the author of the article, “Limits to territorial nationalization in election support for an independence-aimed regional nationalism in Catalonia,” published in Political Geography (2017).
