Career Talk & Student-Alumni Mixer

AAU is excited to welcome students and alumni to the first AAU Mixer of the year on November 7, 2024, in room 2.07, starting at 5 pm. This event is designed to bring the AAU family together for an evening of conviviality, fellowship, and connection. Whether you’re a student keen to find ways to help jumpstart your career, or an alum looking for fresh ideas and reconnecting with your alma mater, this event will answer your needs nicely!

The evening will open with a talk from AAU alumni Chris Lettner (2012, BA in Journalism & Communications) and Leona Rega (2021, BA in Humanities).

With a background in photo journalism and entrepreneurship, Chris is CEO of the digital marketing agency, The Weather. He will offer some wisdom on no-fluff marketing and tell the story of the unassailable rise of The Weather, including the misadventures he experienced along the way.

Leona has been involved with The Weather since the very beginning, starting as an intern (via the AAU Internship Course). Her internship naturally transitioned into graphic and web design, and gradually merged with project management. Leona expanded her experience working with Wunderman Thompson (now VML), and Glatzová & Co. Currently, she is Art Director at The Weather.

A Q&A session will follow, in which you can pick their brains to your heart’s content.

In continuation of the Career Talk, the Student-Alumni Mixer will offer an opportunity to meet with fellow students and alumni, discuss career goals, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. Advice, mentorship, and future partnerships—this informal session will be brimming with the promise of all three.

Alumni Council Welcome
Meet the newly-elected members of the Alumni Council and find out what plans they have in store this year to enhance alumni engagement, create networking opportunities, and support soon-to-be-grads and students as they prepare to embark on their own journeys.

Speed Networking
Partake in one, or several, rounds of speed networking. This is your chance to practice your ”pitch”, how to present yourself in a short time, and take the first step towards making meaningful, professional connections.

Alumni Career Advice
Talk with alumni from various industries and on different career paths about their experiences, the challenges they faced when looking for jobs, or valuable advice about job searches, connecting with people, or writing resumes.

Mix & Mingle!
Cap off the evening with a dynamic networking session, and mingle with fellow students and alumni.

Refreshments will be available throughout the event to fuel conversation and festivities.

We encourage both alumni and students to come and make the most of this fantastic opportunity to connect and grow together.
