Public Debate: Atlantic Relations in Crisis

Anglo-American University, in partnership with the Strategeo Institute, invites you to an engaging and timely public debate on the future of transatlantic relations. As global tensions rise and old alliances are tested, this event offers a unique opportunity to hear from leading voices on both sides of the Atlantic.

The debate will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the AAU campus.

A distinguished panel of experts will examine the challenges and prospects facing Europe and the United States, covering topics that are shaping the geopolitical and economic landscape.

Key Discussion Points:

  • The State of NATO – How vulnerable is NATO’s eastern flank? Can defense spending be effectively increased?
  • Transatlantic Cooperation & Ukraine – Will Ukraine receive security guarantees? Who will provide them?
  • Trade & Economic Relations – Are we entering an era of new protectionism, trade wars, and tariffs? Is globalism dead?
  • Shared Values? – Do Europe and the US still align on fundamental principles, or are we merely business partners?

  • Amb. Cameron Munter – former American diplomat, academic, and executive based in Prague (confirmed)
  • Tomáš Pojar – Czech national security advisor (TBC)
  • Tomáš Kopečný – Czech governmental envoy for the reconstruction of Ukraine
  • Ondřej Jonáš – Czech-American investor
  • George Hays, II – interim dean of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy at AAU
