This month: The Decoupling of the Transatlantic Relationship
While there have been strains to the Transatlantic Relationship numerous times since World War II, there has not been anything like the last four years. The USA challenging its trade and political and security alliances with Europe was unprecedented. With the beginning of the new Biden Administration, there was hope that the Relationship could be restored. The Europeans, now, may not be too eager to go back to how things were. What are the various points of contention between the USA and Europe? Why would Europe not want to return to the status quo ante? What are the consequences of such a decoupling for the region and the world? Come discuss these questions and ask your own.
The lead professor will be George Hays II, Chair of International Relations.
