This month: Mass Shootings
Over the last two decades in America, the total number of guns in civilian hands has increased by 50 percent, far outpacing demographic growth patterns. Meanwhile, mass shootings have become more persistent and by some estimates, occur every two weeks on average. What is the relationship between mass shootings and background checks? Why have so many Americans been buying so many weapons? Is the relationship as simple as “more guns leads to more violence”? Come discuss these questions and ask your own.
The lead professor will be Alexei Anisin, Dean of SIRD and author of the forthcoming book Mass Shootings and Civilian Armament.
