Meet the Ambassador: Emily McLaughlin

The ambassador of Canada to the Czech Republic, Emily McLaughlin, will come to AAU on September 24, 2024 to reflect on Canada’s place in the world and its relationship with Czechia, as well as lessons learned during the course of her diplomatic career.

McLaughlin has operated in numerous international capacities, as an advisor, legislative assistant, trade commissioner, and, most recently, director of the Inter-American Affairs division. Apart from Europe, her work has seen her come into contact with Latin America, Africa, the US, Hong Kong, and the UK. She has served in her current role as ambassador since August 2023.

The lecture, which will be moderated by Chairman Gerald Power, will last from 3 pm to 4:30 pm, in room 2.07, and be followed by a Q&A session as well as a period of relaxed discussion and mingling. This is a remarkable opportunity for students, faculty, and alumni to gain direct access to an international diplomat of note.
