Idióteia in Ethics: a Public Lecture

Professor Jakub Jirsa will give a lecture examining the role of the author in contemporary applied ethics. Must authors be led to any conclusion by the formal logic of their argument? How far are they prepared to go? These questions and more will be considered.

A number of contemporary medical ethics texts will likewise be compared with Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal, a satire published in 1729 mocking the British treatment of Ireland.

The lecture will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 6 pm to 7pm, in the AAU library.
