AAU Open Lecture: The Future of the European Union with Mgr. Věra Jourová

In alignment with Anglo – American Universitys’ mission, vision, and institutional values, the AAU Open Lecture functions as a forum for academic and socio-political discussion open to students, faculty, professionals, and the general public. With high-profile guest speakers, AAU aims to promote open-minded discussion, encourage innovative approaches to sensitive or difficult topics and address new challenges within the local and global society!

AAU is proud to present the Open Lecture event. This session welcomes Mgr. Věra Jourová, Vice-President of the European Commission to lead the discussion on The Future of the European Union. As a complicated and sensitive topic, this AAU Open Lecture provides a safe and open platform in which Věra Jourová will lead a lecture addressing how this multinational organization functions, interacts with, and handles struggles and strife in its capacity as European governance. Key points of discussion include current challenges facing the EU political sphere related to the COVID 19 pandemic. This session will also cover European democracy, migration, climate change, social justice, digital transformation, and many more. This event is open to all – staff, faculty, students, and the general public- however, space is limited. To guarantee a spot in this event, prior registration is required!

About the Speaker: Mgr. Věra Jourová, Vice-President of the European Commission
Věra Jourová has been the Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency since December 2019. She previously served as the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers, and Gender Equality (2014 – 2019) as well as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies (2013 – 2014) and as the Czech Minister for Regional Development (2014).
