Tatiana Styrkas was born in Moscow and received her M.A. First Class Honors degree in literature and philology from Moscow State Pedagogical University. She then held the post of Russian Lector for 9 terms at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at Oxford University, United Kingdom. Tatiana Styrkas was awared the scholarship at St. Catherine´s College at Oxford University and she earned her Master of Letters Degree from the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at Oxford University, United Kingdom. Her thesis was devoted to the interdisciplinary study of literature, film and music in the 20th century Russia.
Tatiana Styrkas has been a Professor at New York University in Prague since 2000 and has been teaching at Anglo-American University since 2013. Her academic interests include Russian Art, Russian Cinema, Russian Music, Modern Russian Literature, interactive methods of language teaching and cultural history of Russian émigré community in Europe.
