Description | This course requires a basic familiarity with personal computers from the point of view of a user. It will provide the students with knowledge on how to develop competency in handling data using various computer programs. It is expected that during this term the students will develop competency in the operation of the computer programs to which they are exposed. They will develop an understanding of the role data and IT (Information Technology) plays in virtually all areas of business. A focus on data analytics (discovering useful information and supporting decision making) will aid the growth of their skill and understanding. The course will consist of two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part will provide the background for some practical use by using different information systems, including the hand- on databases development and design. |
Learning Outcomes | Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: – Develop data; – Develop analytic skills; – Become proficient with Microsoft Excel, SQL DBMS and other software; – Understand what data is, where to get it, and how to process it for decision-making purposes; – Learn to use data and information for decision making; – Learn to obtain, manipulate and process data. |
