Whether you’re new to AAU or you are looking forward to graduating in June, it’s important to keep up with changes and news around campus. Here are some things you should know for the upcoming year:
It’s AAU’s 30th anniversary! There will be lots of events and celebrations throughout the next Academic Year and into 2020 to commemorate AAU’s founding in 1990. Watch for emails and announcements with our special 30th anniversary logo and look for ways to get involved throughout the year! We are also collecting stories and profiles of current or past faculty, staff, students and alumni who have made an impact on the AAU community over the last 30 years. Whether it be a fond memory from times past or a more recent development in the history and culture of AAU we want to hear about it- please click HERE to share your AAU story.
The Absence Excuse Request process has changed. Since class attendance is mandatory at AAU, if you miss class because of illness or another serious reason, you should submit an Absence Excuse Request Form. You can pick up the Absence Excuse Request Form from Student Services Center or Dean of Students office (4.13) or on AAUNet under Student Services Forms. Fill out the form, attach the doctor’s note, then return the form to the Student Services Center or Reception. You, your teachers and your academic Dean will be notified of the outcome.
The Career Center and Print Center have moved. The Career Center is the place to go to learn more about the internship course and how to find an internship, to get help on your CV, pick up tips on how to apply for jobs, and more. Now you can find the Career Center and our Alumni and Career Development Specialist, Elizabeth Nováček located in the Student Services Center (room 1.07). Also right in front of the Student Services Center and just opposite to reception you will now find the Print Center staffed with Study Assistants ready to guide you through the printing/copying/scanning process!
We are offering student housing for the first time ever! Starting this Fall AAU is proud to offer our students the opportunity to live together with their classmates from different countries and cultures right in the heart of Prague only 15 minutes from campus. The first group of students move in on Monday, August 26th and Tuesday August 27th. Students can choose to reside in a single, double or triple room for the full Fall (September – January) or Spring (February – June) term, or for the entire academic year. If the capacity allows, students can also be accommodated in the Winter and/or Summer term as well. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit https://aauni.edu/accommodation-in-prague-for-students/.
The Visual Arts students now have their own art studio spaces. AAU will now offer two “art studio” spaces for students: one in the main building (room 3.27) and one off-campus at Holesovicka Sachta, tram-stop Vystaviste (in the Art District Prague 7). A third room, 1.31, is for all students registered and taking art-studio classes held there. Equipped with easels these new dedicated spaces have been long requested by students. Room 3.27 and the new external studio spaces will be a shared-space for students where they can work everyday till evenings during Open Studio Hours.
We hope this helps smooth the transition back to campus for our students and we can't wait to see what the 2019/2020 Academic Year has in store!
