Access to Thousands of Academic Books and Journals
The AAU Library houses the largest English-language book collection of any private university in Prague. It also subscribes to a variety of periodicals and newspapers.
The library predominantly specializes in areas studied at AAU: Business Administration, Humanities and Social Sciences, International Relations and Diplomacy, and Law. The circulating and reference collections offer a well-rounded selection of fiction and nonfiction books.
History Meets Contemporary
Like AAU’s main campus, the library is located in the historical center of Prague. The building features all the necessary modern amenities required for study, including free Wi-Fi access, ample study space, and a book collection specially curated by our librarians based on AAU’s curricula. AAU students can enjoy the ambiance of art and architectural history while they advance their studies.
Cultural Events
The AAU Library has been hosting a program of cultural events for several years and continues to organize poetry and fiction readings as well as discussions, music concerts, performances and the AAU Film Club. Contributors are usually local and visiting artists and authors, as well as AAU faculty. The library also offers its space to festivals and symposiums. Information about past library events is available here.
Bachelor and Master Theses
The AAU Library holds a collection of student theses from the schools of Business Administration, International Relations & Diplomacy, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Journalism, and the John H. Carey II School of Law. The printed thesis collection is “library use only”, meaning theses can be viewed on library premises but not borrowed.
The digital archive of theses is available here.
Library Partnerships
Prague is home to many libraries which are available for research and open to AAU students. Our current partnerships include The Institute for Contemporary History. Upon presentation of an AAU student ID card and one photograph, an identification card will be issued free of charge by the associated institutions.
